Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks
Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks
Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks are a hatchery-choice assortment of ducklings selected from available duck breeds at hatch time. This option works well for customers who want a fun, budget-friendly way to start or expand a duck flock without choosing one specific breed.
This assortment may include one breed, multiple breeds, one color, or several colors depending on what is available when the order is filled. Because this is a hatchery-choice package, Cackle Hatchery® chooses the ducklings included.
Cackle Hatchery® cannot tell customers what color, type, or breed ships in this package. Cackle Hatchery® also does not keep records of which breeds are sent in each individual assortment order.
This order ships from a different location through one of Cackle Hatchery®’s participating hatchery partners.
Cackle Hatchery® cannot ship ducks to Hawaii.

Important Hatchery Choice Note
This is a true hatchery-choice duck assortment.
Cackle Hatchery® does not guarantee a specific breed, color, variety, sex, or mix in this package. In addition, Cackle Hatchery® does not tell customers what color type or breed shipped and does not keep records of what breeds were sent.
Customers should choose this assortment only if they are comfortable receiving whatever eligible ducklings are available at the time of hatch.
For customers who need a specific breed, color, or flock purpose, a specific duck breed may be a better choice.
Why Choose Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks?
Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks can be a good choice for customers who enjoy variety and do not need to choose one exact breed.
This assortment may work well for:
Backyard duck flocks
Farm ponds
Homesteads
Customers who enjoy surprise assortments
Mixed-color duck flocks
General-purpose duck keeping
Families wanting a fun duckling mix
Customers who want to compare different duck types
Because this package may include breeds with different purposes, customers may receive ducks suited for eggs, meat, pets, pond use, foraging, or ornamental value.
Breed Variety and Flock Differences
Since this assortment may include several different duck breeds, customers should expect variation in size, color, growth rate, temperament, egg production, and body type.
For example, Pekins and Rouens are larger domestic ducks with strong farm value. Khaki Campbells, Welsh Harlequins, and White Layers are often chosen for egg production. Runner Ducks are lightweight, upright, active foragers. Swedish Ducks, Buff Ducks, Cayugas, and White Crested Ducks add color, character, and variety to the flock.
This variety can make a mixed duck flock fun and interesting. However, it also means customers should prepare for different needs as the ducklings grow.
Possible Duck Types in the Assortment
Pekin Ducks
White Pekin Ducks are classic white domestic ducks known for fast growth, farm value, and a calm, familiar appearance.
Khaki Campbell Ducks
Khaki Campbell Ducks are popular laying ducks with a strong reputation for egg production.
Rouen Ducks
Rouen Ducks are large, calm domestic ducks with Mallard-like coloring and good backyard or pond value.
Swedish Ducks
Blue Swedish Ducks and Black Swedish Ducks bring attractive color, useful size, and classic domestic duck appeal.
Runner Ducks
Fawn and White Runner Ducks, Black Runner Ducks, Blue Runner Ducks, and Chocolate Runner Ducks are upright, active ducks known for mobility, foraging, and egg production.
Other Possible Breeds
The assortment may also include Buff Ducks, Cayuga Ducks, Welsh Harlequin Ducks, or White Crested Ducks, depending on availability.
Egg Production and Utility
Because this assortment may include several different duck breeds, egg production can vary. Some ducklings may grow into stronger layers, while others may offer more meat value, ornamental appeal, or pond presence.
Customers who want the most predictable egg production may prefer a specific laying breed such as Khaki Campbell Ducks, Golden 300 Hybrid Layer Ducks, White Layer Ducks, or Welsh Harlequin Ducks.
However, customers who enjoy variety may appreciate the mixed flock experience. A hatchery-choice assortment can bring several useful traits into one group.
Temperament and Flock Management
Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks may include breeds with different temperaments. Some may act calm and steady, while others may stay more active and alert.
Because of that, customers should provide enough space, clean water, quality feed, shelter, and predator protection. A good setup helps mixed duck flocks grow evenly and reduces stress between different body types and activity levels.
Customers should also watch flock behavior as the ducks mature. Some larger breeds may grow faster than lightweight breeds, so feed access, water access, and space matter.
Shipping Note
Mixed Hatchery Choice Ducks ship from a different location through one of Cackle Hatchery®’s participating hatchery partners.
Because this product ships through a partner hatchery, customers should review ordering details carefully before placing an order. Availability, hatch timing, and shipping schedules may vary by season.
Cackle Hatchery® cannot ship ducks to Hawaii.
Duckling Care After Arrival
Before ducklings arrive, customers should prepare a clean, warm, and safe brooder.
A proper duckling setup should include:
A secure brooder
A proper heat source
Clean drinking water
Duckling feed or appropriate waterfowl starter
Dry bedding
Enough room to move away from heat
Protection from drafts, pets, and predators
Ducklings should always have access to water when eating. However, customers should use a water setup that limits splashing so the brooder stays as dry as possible.
As mixed ducklings grow, customers should increase space, manage bedding carefully, and make sure all ducklings can reach feed and water.
