Hatchery Choice Ducks
Hatchery Choice Duck Assortment
Product Overview
The Hatchery Choice Duck Assortment is a bargain duckling option for customers who enjoy a surprise. This selection is made from ducklings left over at the hatchery, so it may include only one breed or it may include a mix of several duck breeds.
When possible, Cackle Hatchery® may send several duck breeds in the assortment. However, there is no guarantee of breed, color, variety, or assortment. Cackle also does not keep records of what breeds or color types are sent with this package. That expectation should be clear before customers order.
Cackle’s Surplus Duck Bargain Waterfowl Special uses the same important customer-facing message: Cackle does not tell customers what breed was sent with this package and does not keep records of the breeds sent.
What May Be Included
Hatchery Choice can be selected from Cackle Hatchery® straight run duck breeds, depending on hatch availability. Possible breeds include:
Cayuga, Fawn Runner, Blue Swedish, Black Swedish, Splash Swedish, Ancona, Welsh Harlequin, Khaki Campbell, Rouen, and White Pekin Ducks.
Because this is a hatchery choice assortment, customers should not order this product if they need a specific breed, color, sex, or production goal. Customers who want to compare individual duck breeds before choosing should use Cackle’s Duck Breeds List Comparison Chart. The chart compares duck breeds by weight, purpose, egg production, temperament, APA status, and Livestock Conservancy status.
Best Customer Fit
This assortment is a good choice for customers who want ducklings at a bargain price and are flexible about breed or color. It can be especially fun for backyard duck keepers, small farms, homesteads, and families who simply want to raise ducks and enjoy the surprise.
Choose Hatchery Choice Duck Assortment if you:
Want a surprise duckling order
Are open to one breed or mixed breeds
Do not need a specific color or type
Are comfortable with straight run ducklings
Want a bargain waterfowl option
Enjoy raising mixed backyard ducks
Have flexible goals for eggs, pets, meat, or yard enjoyment
Understand that Cackle does not identify the breeds sent
Understand that Cackle does not keep records of what breeds are included
Customers who want a specific breed should order that breed directly from Cackle’s Ducks for Sale category instead. Cackle’s duck category includes ducklings for eggs, meat, pets, farms, ponds, and backyards.
Important No-Guarantee Notice
This product is hatchery choice only. Customers should understand the following before ordering:
Cackle may send one duck breed or several duck breeds.
There is no guarantee of variety.
There is no guarantee of color type.
Cackle does not identify which breed or color type was sent.
Cackle does not keep records of which breeds are sent in each package.
The assortment is selected based on what is available at the hatchery.
This direct, clear language helps reduce customer confusion and protects the product from expectations it cannot meet.
Straight Run Ducklings
Hatchery Choice Duck Assortment may include straight run ducklings. That means customers may receive males, females, or both.
Straight run ducklings are best for customers who are flexible with flock makeup. Customers needing a specific number of females, a breeding ratio, or a particular sex should choose products that offer sexed options when available.
Possible Breed Highlights
Because this assortment may include several different duck breeds, it can give customers a chance to enjoy a variety of duck personalities, colors, and uses.
Possible breeds may include:
Cayuga Ducks — calm black ducks with iridescent green sheen, good egg production, and show appeal.
Fawn & White Runner Ducks — upright, lightweight, active ducks known for egg production and foraging.
Blue Swedish Ducks — calm, cold-hardy ducks with blue-gray plumage and all-purpose value.
Black Swedish Ducks — dark, calm ducks with white chest bibs and excellent backyard temperament.
Splash Swedish Ducks — lighter Swedish ducks with splash-patterned coloring.
Ancona Ducks — rare, hardy ducks with broken color patterns and good all-purpose value.
Welsh Harlequin Ducks — calm, attractive ducks known for strong egg production and foraging.
Khaki Campbell Ducks — one of the most prolific duck egg-laying breeds.
Rouen Ducks — calm, large ducks with Mallard-style coloring, useful for eggs, meat, and ponds.
White Pekin Ducks — popular white ducks known for fast growth, egg production, meat value, and pet appeal.
Duck Uses and Backyard Value
A Hatchery Choice Duck Assortment may include breeds used for eggs, meat, exhibition, foraging, pest control, pets, or backyard enjoyment. Since the exact breeds are not guaranteed, customers should think of this product as a flexible mixed duckling order rather than a targeted production order.
Ducks can bring many benefits to a homestead or backyard. Cackle’s 12 Benefits of Keeping Ducks explains that ducks can provide eggs, meat, entertainment, pest control, and even garden value through diluted duck pool water.
If egg production is important, customers can read How Many Eggs Does a Duck Lay? and Ducks for Eggs: How to Keep Your Ducks Laying Well before ordering. These resources explain that duck egg production depends on breed, strain, age, light, nutrition, health, weather, and management.
Care and Mixed Flock Planning
Customers should prepare for standard duckling care before ordering any duck assortment. Ducklings need a safe brooder, warmth, clean bedding, fresh water, appropriate feed, and enough space as they grow.
Ducks also need water deep enough to dip and clean their bills and nostrils. However, they do not need swimming water inside the brooder. Wet bedding can chill ducklings and create health problems, so waterers should be managed carefully.
For customers who plan to keep ducks with chickens, Cackle’s Keeping Ducks Together with Chickens is an important internal resource. Ducks and chickens can sometimes live together, but ducks are messier with water and need different management than chickens.
Shipping Note
Cackle Hatchery® cannot ship ducks to Hawaii. Keep this shipping note clear on the product page so customers can plan before placing an order.
Because hatchery choice and surplus-style duck assortments depend on what is available at hatch time, customers should check the Availability Chart and the product page before ordering.

A bargain duckling assortment
A surprise mix of possible duck breeds
One breed or multiple breeds, depending on hatch availability
Straight run ducklings
