Recommended Brooder Heat Schedule
Cackle Hatchery® recommends using brooder lamps with a light bulb or infrared bulb up to 150 watts for the first 2 weeks. During that time, chicks benefit from both light and heat 24/7 as they get oriented in the brooder and learn where to find feed and water.
After the first 2 weeks, customers can transition to this Infrared Uniform Hanging Heater and provide heat without light at night.
This helps chicks rest more naturally while still receiving supplemental warmth.
Best Age Range
This heater is recommended for chicks 2 weeks and older.
During the first 2 weeks, Cackle recommends a brooder lamp with a light bulb or infrared bulb up to 150 watts. After chicks are more established, this hanging heater can provide a more comfortable no-light heat option.
Always monitor chick behavior after changing heat sources. Chicks should be active, eating, drinking, resting comfortably, and able to move closer to or farther away from the heater as needed.
Safe, Washable, and Reliable Design
The Infrared Uniform Hanging Heater is designed to be safe, non-breakable, sealed, washable, and reliable. These features make it a practical heating option for customers who want a brooder heater that can be cleaned and reused.
Because brooder equipment can collect dust and debris, a washable surface is helpful for ongoing care. Always unplug the heater and follow manufacturer instructions before cleaning.
Energy-Efficient 100-Watt Heat
This heater is rated at 100 watts, making it an energy-efficient option for specific-area brooder heat.
Rather than lighting the entire brooder, the heater provides warmth in the area where it is placed. Chicks should still have room to move away from the heat if they get too warm.
Good brooder management always depends on chick behavior, room temperature, brooder size, bedding, ventilation, and heat placement.
Hanging Heater Setup
The Infrared Uniform Hanging Heater is designed to hang above the brooder area.
For best results:
Hang the heater securely
Plug it in according to instructions
Keep it properly positioned
Allow chicks room to move away from heat
Monitor chick behavior often
Check the brooder temperature regularly
Keep bedding dry and clean
Avoid crowding the brooder
Follow all manufacturer instructions
The heater should be installed before chicks need it so customers can confirm placement and operation ahead of time.

Brooder Supply Reminder
