We will not be offering these for sale. The Ayam Ketawa has another name — the laughing chicken. The rooster’s crow sounds a lot like human laughter. Because the rooster’s laughing crow lasts so long, the breed is a member of the long crower family of chickens.
The sound of the rooster’s crow can be very fast (disco), slow, or slower. The duration of the crow may last 15 seconds or more. Listen to an Ayam Ketawa rooster on Youtube.
The Ayam Ketawa is a small but hardy breed with long, sturdy legs. Since this chicken is bred for it’s unique style of crowing, and not for uniform appearance, plumage colors vary. The breed originated in Indonesia, where it was once a status symbol of the royal family.
Cackle Hatchery® is offering a limited number of Ayam Ketawa hatching eggs in packs of 12. Shipped only, no pickup orders. Because summer heat causes a higher risk of eggs not hatching, we do not ship from mid June to the first of August.
